What is the Chartered Fast-Track Masterclass?

Formerly known as the “Chartered & Fellowship Masterclass”, the “CFM” is an opportunity for qualified and experienced leaders in Islamic Finance to gain professional recognition from the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIF).

Across seven (7) cohorts of the original CFM between 2018 and 2019, 98 participants successfully completed the programme, with 11 of them being conferred the “Fellow Chartered Professional in Islamic Finance” (“F.CPIF”) title, and another 84 of them being conferred the “Chartered Professional in Islamic Finance” (“CPIF”) title. 3 of the participants, who already held the CPIF title, attended for CPD.

If you are a seasoned practitioner of Islamic Finance and have extensive experience in the industry, the 2022 CFM is the ideal opportunity for you to advance your professional standing.

Core Dimensions Of Islamic Finance

ETHICS

The ethical foundation of Islamic Finance is key towards understanding its purpose, objectives, and as the anchoring, framework guiding the behavior of industry leaders and professionals. This session will be centered on the following key questions:
The importance of Ethics

  • Why Ethics must be the bedrock for Islamic Finance?
  • What is the Nature of Man, and why does Man need Ethics?
  • What are the Ethical Pillars of Islamic Finance?
  • Under what circumstances are Ethics really tested?
  • What are the conditions required to ensure Ethics do not succumb to the profit motive?

FINANCIAL STABILITY

The ethical foundation of Islamic Finance is key towards understanding its purpose, objectives, and as the anchoring, framework guiding the behavior of industry leaders and professionals. This session will be centered on the following key questions:

  • What is the nature of capital?
  • How and why does the capital accumulation process lead to crisis?
  • What is the impact of financial crisis on society?
  • What are Islam’s rules on the capital accumulation process?
  • How do these rules make a more stable and just financial system?

SUSTAINABILITY

Prevention of harm takes precedence over the doing of good, and we are at a point in history where we must really stop harming our bio-sphere. This session is centred on the following key questions:

 

  • What is “sustainability”?
  • Why has it become such a concern today?
  • What has the role of capital been in bringing about this crisis?
  • What is the Islamic worldview on sustainability?
  • How can Islamic Finance balance the tensions between sustainability being a necessity for developed countries, yet a luxury for the lesser and underdeveloped countries?

Entry Requirements

The CFM has been designed specifically for Senior Level Executives who are either:

  • Islamic Finance practitioners (asset management, takaful/Islamic insurance, banking) or;
  • Providers of support to the Islamic Finance industry (regulatory, legal, audit, compliance, risk, and other roles related to Islamic Finance).

 

The following categories of experienced senior professionals from Islamic Financial Institutions, Islamic Window Operations, Ancillary Services, and Professional Advisory Services are welcomed to register for the CFM:

Recommended Minimum Working Knowledge In Islamic Finance:

  • Usul Fiqh & Fiqh Muamalat (Islamic Jurisprudence & Law of Islamic Commercial Transactions).
  • Product design/structures/contracts.

Relevant Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years within or serving the financial services industry.
  • At least 6 years of experience must be relevant to Islamic Finance.
 

(Nominees who may not fully fulfil the above requirements may still be eligible to join the CFM on a case-to-case basis, subject to the discretion of the CIIF Admissions & Membership Committee).

• Programme learning kit (provided digitally)
• 1st-year membership with the CIIF
• CFM online assessment
• Access to the CIIF Member’s Portal
• 5 Star venue with complete meeting facilities including F&B
• Individual training kit
